Weight (GSM) is just how dense a fabric is. Lighter breathes more; heavier holds structure.

Not better, different. A cotton modal blend has a silkier drape and a more premium feel, while a pure cotton or cotton blend gives you a more classic, breathable hand. Both are excellent; it depends on the feel you want.
